On September 24th Mr. N.Ankhbayar, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia attended the special meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA).
Foreign Ministers, Deputy Foreign Ministers and State Secretaries of the 27 CICA member states took part in the meeting, presented foreign and security policies and anti-pandemic activities of their respective countries and exchanged their views on future cooperation among member states.
State Secretary N.Ankhbayar delivered a statement in which he highlighted policy responses of the Government of Mongolia to the COVID-19 pandemic. He also pointed out the readiness of the Government of Mongolia to cooperate with the CICA member states not only to ensure peace and security in Asia, but also to overcome socio-economic challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.
During the meeting the Republic of Kazakhstan received the CICA chairmanship from the Republic of Tajikistan. The Republic of Tajikistan chaired the CICA from 2018 to 2020 and the Republic of Kazakhstan will chair it for the period of 2020-2022.
This annual special meeting was held virtually for the first time due to the global outbreak of COVID-19.
