FOREIGN MINISTERS HOLD A VIDEOCONFERENCE ON THE OCCASION OF THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS

Minister for Foreign Affairs D.Tsogtbaatar and Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Singapore Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan held a videoconference today, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the Republic of Singapore and exchanged warm greetings.

While noting Mongolia and Singapore’s successful cooperation in social and economic sectors in the past 50 years Minister D.Tsogtbaatar emphasized that today Singapore has become Mongolia’s trusted friend and a reliable partner in the Southeast Asian region.

Minister D.Tsogtbaatar further expressed his satisfaction for the outcomes of his official visit to Singapore made last year and that trade turnover of the two countries reached $176.8 million dollars in 2019, which has increased fivefold since 2016 and threefold within the last year.

Minister Dr.Balakrishnan remarked that Mongolia-Singapore relations have expanded in trade and economic sectors and having similar global outlook have led to a close cooperation in the regional and international fora.

Minister D.Tsogtbaatar also commended on Singapore’s meticulous measures to contain the spread of COVID-19 pandemic and expressed his sincere gratitude for Singapore’s continuous support towards Mongolia’s efforts to prevent the pandemic.

President Khaltmaa Battulga, Prime Minister Ukhnaa Khurelsukh and Minister for Foreign Affairs Damdin Tsogtbaatar have exchanged congratulatory messages with their respective Singaporean counterparts.
