MONGOLIA AND CUBA HELD FOREIGN MINISTRIES’ CONSULTATIVE MEETING

The Third Consultative Meeting between the Foreign Ministries of Mongolia and Cuba was held in Havana, Cuba on January 18-19, 2019. Mr.D. Davaasuren, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, led the Mongolian delegation, while Mr.Marcelino Medina, First Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, led the Cuban side.

Both sides expressed their satisfaction with expansion of bilateral relations and cooperation, as well as implementation of particular activities in health, education, culture and sport sector and its achievement. They also discussed the commemoration of the 60th anniversary of establishment of the diplomatic relations between our countries and exchange of high level visits, and cooperation within the UN and other international organisations.

Mr.D. Davaasuren, State Secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, met Mr.Fernando Bermúdez, First Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Environment of Cuba, have signed the “Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Environment and Tourism of Mongolia and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment of the Republic of Cuba on cooperation in environmental protection area”.

State Secretary also visited the Diplomatic Academy and the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology of Cuba, a world leading medicine and vaccine manufacturer. Cuban side proposed to the Mongolian delegation issues of cooperating in health and biotechnology sector, in particular, cure for diabetes, elimination of hepatitis B and Delta, heart attack prevention and supply of vaccines for animals against foot-and-mouth disease and mites.
