MINISTER TSOGTBAATAR MET QATARI AMBASSADOR

 

            H.E. Mr. D. Tsogtbaatar,  Foreign Minister of Mongolia met H.E. Mr. Sultan Al-Mansouri, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Mongolia and exchanged views on bilateral relations and cooperation between two countries.   

            Ambassador Sultan Al-Mansouri conveyed the message of congratulations from the Qatari Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamed Bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani to Minister D. Tsogtbaatar on his appointment, and noted that Qatar is willing to develop its relations with Mongolia in many areas, including culture, sports, tourism and economic sectors. He has also stated that Qatar Investment Authority is interested to invest in Mongolia, and requested to provide detailed information on available sectors for investment, as well as development and investment projects.          

            Minister D.Tsogtbaatar emphasized that the two countries enjoy good friendly relations and stressed out the importance of enhancing the bilateral cooperation in the fields of culture, sports diplomacy policy, attract investment from Qatar, learn from the Qatari experience accumulated in the fields of urban development and real estate development.    

         

             Minister D.Tsogtbaatar congratulated Qatar for the re-election to the UN Human Rights Council for the years 2018-2020.  

Mongolia and Qatar have established diplomatic relations on January 23, 1998. In the first 9 months of 2017, the trade turnover between Mongolia and Qatar was approximately 470 thousand US Dollar and Mongolian export is accounted for approximately 200 thousand US Dollar.       

In 2006 Government of Qatar provided to Mongolia a grant of 10 Million US Dollar for the Millennium Road Project and this grant is used for the construction of 65 km road in the Tsetserleg-Tosontsengel direction.
