H.E MR. AMBASSADOR TS.BATBAYAR TOOK PART AT FITCUBA, INTERNATIONAL TOURISM EXHIBITION OF CUBA

H.E. Mr. Ts.Batbayar, Ambassador of Mongolia to Cuba had participated in the “FitCuba-XXXVII”, International tourism exhibition of Cuba which was held in Holguin city from March 3-6 2017.  The exhibition was led by the Minister of Tourism of Cuba Mr. Manuel Marrero Cruz.

At a distance of 680 kilometers from the capital city of Havana, this year’s “FitCuba XXXVII” exhibition was held in the historic city of Holguin. It was a unique choice of location by the organizers, in a sense that it demonstrated Cuba’s willingness to develop tourism in the Holguin area and via tourism attract investments to other sectors of the local economy.

Giving more emphasis to tourism in the Cuban development agenda until 2030, and by supporting private businesses related to tourism, it is noticeable that Cuban government is giving considerable importance to the tourism sector. Today in Cuba there are approximately 21 thousand hostels, 2 thousand restaurants licensed to private services, and the government announced more than 100 tourism related projects for foreign investors.

Cuba received 4 million visitors in 2016, of which Canadian tourists topped with 34 percent of the total incoming tourists. Moreover, as of May 2017 Cuba have already received 2 million tourists, an increase by 15% compared to the same period of last year.
