Minister for Foreign Affairs of Mongolia H.E. Mr. Ts. Munkh-Orgil met the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Department of State Mrs. Susan Thornton on 12 October.

Minister Ts.Munkh-Orgil has briefed her on the policies and priorities of the Government as well as the challenges it faces. He also emphasized that Mongolia attaches high importance to its relations with the U.S.

Mrs. Thornton highlighted the implementation of some significant activities in the bilateral relations in 2016 and describes her mission this time to Ulaanbaatar as to exchange views on the future cooperation such as organizing the Annual Bilateral Consultations, which she proposes to hold on 1 December 2016 in Washington, DC. She also expressed her satisfaction with the current pace of preparations by Mongolian side towards finalizing the Transparency agreement between Mongolia and the U.S.

Both sides have shared the same view that the Mongolia-U.S. relations and cooperation have been successfully developing in the political, defense, economic and cultural fields for almost 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations.

The two sides will celebrate the 30^th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations on the 27^th of January 2017 and are planning to organize a number of commemorative events throughout the year.
