The 9th Meeting of the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) Experts and Eminent Persons was co-organized by the European Union and Singapore in Helsinki, Finland, from 11 to 13 March 2015. Experts and Eminent Persons (EEPs) and representatives from 26 ARF member countries participated in the Meeting, which was opened by H.E. Mr. Erkki Tuomioja, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland, and co-chaired by Mr. Barry Desker, EEP of Singapore, and Ambassador Esko Hamilo, EEP of the European Union.

            The participants exchanged views and made recommendations on the opportunities and challenges for preventive diplomacy in the Asia and Pacific region, taking stock and prospects for enhancing the ARF Preventive Diplomacy Work Plan adopted in 2011, peace mediation and national dialogue, situations in the East China Sea and the Korean Peninsula, moving the ARF process forward, and improving the ARF EEPs system.

            Ambassador Jalbuu Choinkhor, EEP of Mongolia, and Mr. Baasankhuu Purev, Counselor of the Multilateral Cooperation Department of the MFA of Mongolia, participated in the said Meeting.
