50TH ANNIVERSARY OF MONGOLIA-CANADA DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS POSTAGE STAMP LAUNCH

Postage stamp commemorating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Canada was unveiled on November 15, 2023, during the ceremony held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs N.Ankhbayar, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Mongolia H.E. Sandra Choufani, and CEO of Mongol Post JSC B.Ankhbaatar attended the opening ceremony with remarks.

Half a century ago, on November 30, 1973, the People’s Republic of Mongolia and Canada established diplomatic relations, making Canada the first North American country to establish official ties with Mongolia. Mongolia-Canada relations steadily developed in the framework of “Expanded partnership”, and now Canada is considered Mongolia’s one of important “third neighbours”, leading investor and trading partner. Also, Canada’s Official Development Assistance projects made important contribution to Mongolia’s political, social and economic development.

The Commemorative postage stamps depicts National flags of Mongolia and Canada. The decorative part of the stamp illustrates doves, as a symbol of peace, the State Palace of Mongolia and the Parliament House of Canada, monumental buildings of the two capital cities, Ulaanbaatar and Ottawa, and the official logo of the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic relations.

B.Ankhbaatar, CEO of Mongol Post JSC, presented commemorative stamps to the honorary guests who have attended the ceremony.

The stamp can be purchased from Mongol Post JSC.
