The first consultative meeting between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia and the Republic of Chile was held in Santiago on January 16, 2019.
Prior to the meeting, Ms. Carolina Valdivia, Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Chile, has received D. Davaasuren, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the sides confirmed their eagerness to deepen the bilateral cooperation.
The Under Secretary and the State Secretary have signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation between Ministries of Mongolia and the Republic of Chile, establishing a mechanism of political consultations.
At the Consultative meeting, the parties have agreed to expand cooperation in mining sector, for instance, by establishing a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministries of Mining of the two countries in the near future, conducting professional training in Chile, sharing Chile’s experience in building economic diversification, based on mining sector, as well as establishing free-trade agreements, enhancing relations between entrepreneurs and organizing business forums.
Ms. Carolina Valdivia and Mr. D.Davaasuren have indicated their agreed to further strengthen cooperation within the framework of the UN and exchanged views on political, social and economic conditions of Northeast Asia, Central Asia and Latin America.
Mr.Patricio Torres, Secretary General of Foreign Policy of Chile, led the Consultative Meeting from the Chilean side and officials from the Department of Political and Economic Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Chile, have attended the meeting along with representatives of the Ministry of Mining and “ProChile”, an organization specialized in the promotion of exports of Chile.
