On the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the European Union, a photo exhibition was organized by in Brussels. Mr L. Bold, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia, and Mr Dominic Porter, Head of Division for China, Hong Kong, Macaо, Taiwan, and Mongolia at the European External Action Service delivered opening remarks at the exhibition launch.
Ambassador L. Bold expressed gratitude for the European Union’s support during challenging times, including pandemics, natural disasters, floods, and harsh weather conditions in his speech. The EU generously provided humanitarian aid of half a million euros, benefiting 1850 herder families in overcoming difficulties caused by harsh weather conditions this year. He stressed that our shared priorities of sustainable development, green economy, energy transition, sustainable agriculture management, and environmental protection will serve as a strong foundation for further strengthening relations and cooperation between Mongolia and the European Union.
High-level officials, including Mr. Tomas Zdechovsky, a Member of the European Parliament and chair of the Central Asia group in the Parliament, as well as Ambassadors of the European Union member states, and representatives from the European External Action Service, EU institutions, and agencies attended the ceremony. The Mongolian folk rock band “Uuhai” presented a traditional performance.
Diplomatic relations were established between Mongolia and the European Union on August 1, 1989. The relations between Mongolia and the European Union, based on common values such as democracy, human rights, and the rule of law, have been strengthening in the areas of all socio-economic fields.
