Minister Kishida stated that Japan would like to coordinate with Germany further on issues such as the situation in Ukraine as chairs of the G7 Summit meetings of this year and next year. Moreover, the two foreign ministers shared the view that they would make efforts together for the successful visit to Japan by H.E. Dr. Angela Merkel, Federal Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, during the spring this year and at the same time strengthen cooperation between Japan and Germany including measures against international terrorism.
In addition, mentioning the fact that this year marks the 70th year since World War II as well as the 70th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations, and that both Japan and Germany have made great contributions to the peace, stability and prosperity of the world since the end of the war, Minister Kishida stated that he would like the two countries to issue positive messages to the world.

　Foreign Minister Steinmeier gave an explanation on priority issues as the chair of this year’s G7 Summit. Minister Kishida, expressing his respect for the leadership of Foreign Minister Steinmeier toward the G7 Summit/Foreign Ministerial meetings, stated that as the chair of next year’s G7 Summit, he would closely coordinate with Foreign Minister Steinmeier.

　Foreign Minister Steinmeier gave an explanation on the approaches of the “Normandy format” and Minister Kishida highly appreciated the contribution by Germany and stated that he would cooperate with Germany for the peaceful solution of the situation.

　The two foreign ministers confirmed that they would coordinate for the United Nations Security Council reform.
